Create a Team

To create a team, you will need to request a team via email to kcchelp@purdue.edu. In your email, please provide us with the exact name of the team you wish to request and the Purdue Career Account of the owner you wish to assign.

Benefits

Microsoft Teams allows you to collaborate with your team within the Office 365 ecosystem. Team can increase your productivity by providing all of your collaborative tools in one place. Teams allows you to create conversations, chats, online meetings, shared files, tasks, and more. With the ability to create channels, you can ensure conversations, files, and other assets are organized in one place for every topic, team, or project you have.

Managing Notifications

Global Notification Settings

To manage notification settings

  1. Click your profile image
  2. Click Settings
  3. Choose Notifications from the side menu
  4. Update notifications based on your preferences

Channel Notification Settings

Additionally, you can manage notifications per channel. To do so,

  1. Select the ellipses in the upper-right-hand corner of the channel for which you want to modify notifications
  2. Select Channel notifications from the drop-down menu
  3. Update the options based on your preferences
    1. You can choose to receive notifications for every post, regardless if you're mentioned.
    2. You can choose to receive notifications for posts where you are mentioned (someone tags you using the @ sign).
    3. You can choose to receive no notifications for that channel.

Definitions

Banner: This is a notification popup on your computer's desktop that alerts you of new activity and can be either clicked or dismissed as the activity occurs.
Feed: This is the activity feed that is within Teams denoted with the bell icon in the left-side menu
Email: Receive an email that alerts you to the activity. These are usually less time-sensitive taking up to an hour to be delivered.
