How to Map Your ITaP W: Drive on macOS

NOTE:  If you are off campus, you will need to connect to the Purdue VPN, before connecting to your home directory. Please see How do I connect to the Purdue VPN?

Instructions for mapping to a network drive in Apple macOS can be found at https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/connect-mac-shared-computers-servers-mchlp1140/mac.  However, you will not be able to browse for the computer or server.  Please choose the option to connect by entering an address and use the information below.

The path to your Purdue Career account storage is:

  • afp://afp.itap.purdue.edu/home
NOTE: Try alternate path below if you're having a connection issue

When prompted for a Name and Password:

  1. Enter your Purdue career account username where it requests Name
  2. In the Password field, enter your Purdue career account password
  3. Click Connect

It is possible to map using the Windows file sharing protocol (SMB), but it is not as consistent as the above instructions.  If you choose to take this route, the path is smb://nas01.itap.purdue.edu/puhome and follow the instructions in How do I connect to my career account home directory from a Windows PC?
